Some used cars barely stay on the market for three weeks. A study by iSeeCars of used car sales in March 2024 shows which models buyers snapped up fastest, and the list says a lot about what people want right now: fuel economy, reliability and a touch of luxury.
What is driving demand
Used cars sold faster in 2024 than in 2023, while new car sales stayed flat. New car prices are still too high for many shoppers, and used prices have come down a lot since the end of the pandemic.
Buyers have also moved toward fuel-efficient vehicles, especially hybrids. Several large gas SUVs and trucks that sold quickly in 2023 slipped down the list or into the slowest sellers, which can mean better prices on those models for shoppers on a budget. Many eco-minded buyers are interested in EVs but still find them too expensive.
